Supporting Students Beyond The Classroom
The Mohawk Students’ Association supports students throughout their college experience with services, advocacy, events, clubs, campus spaces and resources. With so much information serving different student needs, the website needed to make everything easy to find, navigate and manage.

The challenge was bringing a large amount of content, services and functionality together without overwhelming students. The new website needed to make common tasks simple — whether someone was looking for an event, joining a club, accessing support or submitting a form.

Our Approach
Designed Around How Students Use The Website
Rather than treating the website as a collection of individual pages, we approached it as a central digital resource for student life at Mohawk College. The experience is organized around the areas students interact with most: support, events, clubs and communities, advocacy, student spaces and important resources.
WordPress & Elementor
The website was built on WordPress with Elementor, giving the MSA team a flexible platform for updating pages and managing content internally.
Events Portal & Calendar
A dedicated events system gives students one place to see what is happening across the MSA, with individual event pages and a choice between a month calendar and a tile view.
Clubs & Communities
Students browse and search clubs and communities through a dedicated directory, filtering by interest, type or campus. Each club can have its own page covering the organization and how to get involved.
Online Forms
A range of forms is built into the website to support student requests and MSA processes, from funding requests and room bookings through to poster approvals and club ratification.
Live Chat & Search
Live chat gives students another way to connect directly with the MSA and get help without leaving the page they are on, and built-in search helps them find information quickly across a large, content-heavy website.
Accessibility Tools
The Ally accessibility plugin provides additional accessibility tools for visitors, complementing the accessibility-focused design and development of the website.

Helping Students Find Their People
One of the largest parts of the project was rebuilding the Clubs & Communities experience.
Students can browse and discover clubs through a dedicated directory, while individual club pages give each organization its own space to share information, events and ways to get involved.
