WordPress Web Design, and a Platform We Built Ourselves

We build in WordPress and in the EB Media CMS, our own content platform. Which one you get depends on what your site has to do — and we will tell you honestly which we think that is.

What We Do

The Right Platform, Not the Default One

Most agencies build on one platform and fit every client to it. We build on two: WordPress, which most people have heard of, and the EB Media CMS, our own system, built and supported in-house since we got tired of assembling websites out of other people’s plugins.

Which one you end up on is a real decision, not a sales pitch. We look at what your site actually has to manage, tell you which platform fits and why, and build it properly either way.

What You Get

Two Platforms, Built Properly

What each one gives you, and the parts that are the same whichever you choose.

The EB Media CMS

Our own content platform, built and maintained in-house. Rather than bending a general-purpose tool to fit, we set it up around the content your organization actually manages.

WordPress Development

We still build and maintain WordPress sites, properly — not a marketplace theme with your logo dropped in. If WordPress is the right answer for your project, we will say so.

Content Built Around Your Work

Projects, events, programs, staff, listings, products — whatever your site manages gets its own proper structure, instead of everything being forced into pages and posts.

Genuinely Easy Editing

Change text, swap images, add a page or publish news in a few clicks. No code, no waiting on a developer, no hunting through settings you will never use.

E-Commerce That Fits

Shopify or WooCommerce, set up around your products, shipping and the way your team processes orders — not the other way round.

No Plugin Sprawl

A typical WordPress site accumulates dozens of plugins from different authors, each one a dependency and a potential break. On our CMS the features you need are simply part of it.

Security and Updates Handled

Platform updates are our job, not a notification you have to act on. WordPress sites we maintain get the same treatment, tested rather than applied blindly.

Built Light

Less code doing less work loads faster, which affects both your rankings and whether visitors stay long enough to contact you.

Roles for Real Teams

Multiple editors with sensible permissions, so a volunteer or a co-op student can update one section without being able to break the rest.

Migration From Your Current Site

We move existing sites across, including WordPress sites we did not build, and bring your content with them.

Training Included

Every build comes with a personalized training session for your team, plus support afterwards when someone forgets a step.

Your Content Stays Yours

Your website, domain and hosting are in your name. If you ever decide to move on, we hand over your content rather than making it difficult.

FAQ

Common Questions

It depends on what the site has to do. If your content is straightforward and you value being on a platform any developer can pick up, WordPress is a reasonable answer. If your site manages something specific — programs, listings, events, a catalogue, a database — our CMS usually fits better because we build it around that content instead of adapting a general-purpose tool. We will give you a recommendation and the reasoning behind it.

It is our own content management system, built and maintained in-house. You get a straightforward admin area set up around the content your organization actually manages, and support that comes from the people who wrote it — not a forum, a marketplace vendor, or a plugin author who has moved on.

For plenty of sites WordPress is fine and we will build you one. The trade-off is that a typical WordPress site ends up depending on a stack of plugins from different authors, each needing updates and each capable of breaking something. Our CMS avoids that because the features are part of the platform. WordPress’s advantage is that it is everywhere, and that matters to some organizations more than the tidiness does.

Yes, and we maintain plenty of them. Some clients ask for WordPress by name, some have policies about it, and some inherit a site already built on it. None of that is a problem.

It is a fair question and worth answering plainly. Your website, domain and hosting are in your name, and your content is yours — if you ever decide to leave, we will hand it over in a usable form rather than make it difficult. What you cannot do is take our CMS software itself to another developer, the same as with any proprietary platform. If that portability matters to your organization, say so early and we will build you a WordPress site instead. We would rather have that conversation at the start than have you feel trapped later.

Yes, and we bring your content with it. We will look at what you have first and tell you whether the move is actually worth it — sometimes the honest answer is that your current site is fine and your money is better spent elsewhere.

We do, on both platforms. On our CMS, platform updates are simply part of the service. On WordPress sites we maintain, we handle core, theme and plugin updates and test them rather than applying them blindly.

Yes. We build e-commerce on Shopify or WooCommerce depending on how you sell, what you are shipping, and how your team processes orders. We will walk you through which one suits your situation.

That is the point of both platforms as we set them up. You get a personalized training session with every build, sensible roles so different people can manage different sections, and support afterwards when someone forgets a step.

Yes. You have full access to the website, including logins, hosting and domain details. We don’t lock you into anything — it’s your website, we’re just here to build it and support you.
