Security updates are reviewed and applied as appropriate, with monitoring in place to help us spot issues that need attention.
Daily Backups
On our hosting, backups are taken daily, so a bad edit or a failed update can often be rolled back rather than rebuilt from scratch.
Uptime Monitoring
We watch the sites we host and look into problems when they appear, ideally before you have noticed anything.
Fixes When Something Breaks
If an update, a plugin or an edit breaks something, you contact us and we deal with it, including the fixes that occasionally follow an update.

Keeping the software your site runs on current, applying security updates, fixing what breaks, and making the small changes a site needs over time. For WordPress sites that means core, theme and plugin updates, tested before they go on rather than applied blindly. When we also host the site, daily backups and uptime monitoring sit underneath all of it.
It depends on the platform and how much ongoing work the site needs. A small WordPress site with a handful of plugins is a different job from a large site with e-commerce or custom integrations, and on the EB Media CMS, platform updates are already part of hosting. We quote maintenance up front, alongside hosting if you host with us, so you know the number before anything starts.
Hosting is the server side: Canadian server space, an SSL certificate, daily backups, uptime monitoring and support. Maintenance is keeping the website itself current. On the EB Media CMS, platform and security updates are part of hosting, because it is our own platform and we update it centrally. WordPress sites need their core, themes and plugins kept current as well, which is our separate maintenance service. More on the server side on our web hosting page.

Applied blindly, an update can break a form, a layout or a checkout, and nobody notices until a customer does. We test updates before they go on, and handle the fixes that occasionally follow one.

You contact us and we deal with it. When we host the site we are monitoring it, so often we are already looking. Because we take daily backups, a bad update or a broken edit is usually a rollback rather than a rebuild.
Yes. Questions, edits and small changes are an email or a call away. If you would rather make changes yourselves, WordPress websites can be provided with administrative access, and EB Media CMS websites include access to the content areas configured for your team.
